3rd XI Captain's Report 2010
Another year of improvement saw the us finish thirteenth with three wins and two draws under our
belts. What had been pleasing was the better availability especially the first half of the season.
Generally, the standard of the cricket we were playing has improved and some of the youngsters were
starting to improve. We still have our moments fielding. The fact that I finished with the most catches
and that Bruce Magill and Haseeb Rahman were a close joint second only goes to prove my point!!!
On the batting front we were blessed with the arrival of our own Afridi, Umar Hameed, who
took attacks apart for- fun- hitting a beautiful 100 against Staines & Laleham and a well crafted 50
against Old Pauline. In addition to this there was a fifty for Malcolm ‘the all-rounder` Cammack
against Chobham and a fifty also for Hameed Butt. Outside of this there were plenty of little cameos.
Umar topped our batting with 201 runs @ 40.20 (in only 5 games).
On the bowling front, we had a mixed season, and no bowler in particular shone apart from
Hameed Butts ‘one man show’ against Southern Railway & Kenley with a 6-31 which sent them
on a one way track to defeat.
Overall it was a pleasing season, Thanks to Emma for scoring and chauffeuring and babysitting
us all!! Thanks to everyone else who helped out- there’s too many to name but you know who you
are! Here’s to a good 2011
